The Hike!

Your guided hike will commence at the visitors center on a nice graveled path. We will meander through the hardwood forest enveloped by the smells of trees, soil, and wildflowers. This easy hike is fairly flat. In addition, we travel at a gentle pace.

The Waterfall!

Our path will lead us to the base of High Falls. High Falls, at 150 ft, is the largest waterfall in Dupont State Forest. It's powerful flow of water is refreshing to your senses. We spend a little time at the base of the falls basking in her glory and taking photos.

Prepare for Your Awe-Inspiring Waterfall Yoga Hiking Tour

Our Asheville area experiences meet at the High Falls Visitor Center at  Dupont State Forest, NC

  • Asheville, NC is approximately 35 miles south (approx. 50 min drive).
  • Greenville, NC is approximately 40 miles south (approx. 60 min drive).
  • Hendersonville, NC is approximately 15 miles southwest (approx. 20 min drive).
  • Brevard, NC is approximately 13 miles east (approx. 20 min drive)

Our experiences are convenient for the Asheville area. You will receive very detailed driving instructions in your confirmation email.  You are responsible for getting yourself to and from the trailhead in your own vehicle. Please note: Transylvania County has very limited transportation services such as Lyft, Uber, and taxis.  Please use an abundance of caution with these services!

Be sure to go over your route a day or so before your event, so you can be prepared with estimated drive times.  It is also a good idea to take a picture of your directions before leaving as internet and phone service is very spotty on our mountain roads.

Please Note:  Tours will begin no later than 10 minutes after the start time as a courtesy to the other guests. Refunds will not be issued.

To prevent any disappointment,  give yourself a generous cushion of 15-20 minutes or so.  There is a gift shop, bathrooms, and educational displays to enjoy at the visitors center prior to the tour.  It is a very lovely space to kill a little time.

The trail is an easy 2-mile graveled path with a very gradual slope.  The total elevation gain is approx. 220 ft.  We will follow the path from the visitors center to the area for our yoga practice.  This location is an incredible space for practicing yoga in nature.  We set up our mats facing High Falls for the duration of the practice. Once our 60 minutes of yoga is complete, we walk back to the visitors center and parking area.  Afterward, we will walk down to the base of the waterfall.  We will have plenty of time to enjoy the base of the waterfall and take pictures.

If you are worried about the hiking portion, it is a very gentle sloping hike.  We always encourage you to hike at your own pace and take breaks as needed.  In addition, we often stop to talk about the area and point out landmarks.  This tour is intended to make you feel enlivened and refreshed not exhausted and weary!

Not at all!  The yoga portion of the tour is designed for all levels.  The guides have experience with adapting yoga to fit all levels and abilities.  Plenty of modifications will be offered and we always encourage you to listen to the needs of your body.  We believe the practice of yoga is for ALL!

A small bag or backpack for your personal items tends to work best.  I would pack it with:

  • Full bottle of water
  • Any medications needed. Outdoor Yoga Tours DOES NOT provide any medications.
  • Rain jacket
  • Extra clothing as needed such as hat, gloves, sweater
  • Sunscreen
  • Temperatures are  often 10-20 degrees or cooler than in the city.

Comfortable workout clothing that you can move in.  Yoga pants, biker shorts, and tops made from dry-fit materials works best.  Good socks and closed toe shoes such as hiking boots or sneakers work great for the hiking portion.

Be sure to bring a rain jacket or poncho even if there is no rain in the forecast.  Western NC is in a temperate rainforest and quick showers happen often.

If your tour is during the spring or fall, extra layers are often needed.  Gloves, hat, and jacket.

Sunscreen is always advised. Most of our hikes will have the protection of the canopy of trees, but sunscreen is still a good idea.  Our yoga space usually offers peek-a-boo sun.  Bug spray and/or long pants and shirt can come in handy as well.

We have you covered!

We provide mats, no need to bring your own.

WNC, A Temperate Rainforest!

Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather.  However, we can do our best to prepare for it and keep a positive mindset. The Asheville area is part of a temperate rainforest.  Always bring a raincoat or poncho, even if there is no chance of rain in the forecast.  Our Waterfall Yoga Hiking Adventure is  rain or shine.  Outdoor Yoga Tours reserves the right to cancel any event if the weather is found to be unsafe or severe.

Oftentimes, showers will move through the mountains quickly without much notice.  Due to these shifting weather patterns, we might wait until the day of the tour to make our final decision to cancel the tour.   If we start a tour and are unable to do yoga due to environmental or weather conditions, you will be invited to attend another yoga hike in the future at no cost. If a tour is canceled by Outdoor Yoga Tours due to weather, you will have the option to re-book or receive a full refund.

Semi-Private Public hikes:

Cancelations occurring greater than 24 hours prior to your scheduled tour are refundable less a $15 per person cancelation fee.  However, if you choose a store credit for use at a later time, these are issued at 100% of your purchase price.

Cancelations less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled tour are non-refundable. No-shows will not receive refunds or trip credits.

Please Note:  Asheville area experiences will begin NO LATER than 10 minutes after the start time as a courtesy to the other guests. Refunds will not be issued.

If Outdoor Yoga Tours cancels for any reason, you will be offered an option of a full refund or a store credit.

If you are in reasonably good health this should be a safe experience for you.  If you are pregnant without complications, you should be fine on this tour.  With that being said, always check with your doctor and receive clearance before any new activities.

Our tours are semi-private meaning we only take small groups to encourage maximum enjoyment!  Our minimum is 2 people with 10 people being our maximum.  Smaller groups make for a more personalized experience which is our goal!

There are restrooms at the visitors center area where our hike begins.  In addition, there is also a porta-potty adjacent to our yoga location.  This comes in very handy for a mid tour bathroom break!

Free wi-fi is available for use at the visitors center.

All of our guides are local and have a minimum 200 hr yoga certification.  In addition, they are experienced hikers and offer a wealth of knowledge related to the wnc area.

This tour in intended for adults.  However, if you have older children or teens who you think would enjoy this tour, we can accommodate you and your kids in a private tour.

Unfortunately this is not a dog-friendly experience.

Please be mindful and respectful of other guests during the tour. Drinking, smoking, and vaping are not permitted.

Tipping is not required but is always appreciated!  Cash is always king! In addition, most guides also have a Venmo account.
